The DC Examiner reports that one of Barack Obama’s telecom advisers, the vice president of Clearwire and an Obama donor, is advising him to delay the television broadcast change over from analog to digital. Why? Because it will benefit his company while hurting his competitors. Here’s how: After years of wrangling and negotiating, Congress and [...]

The $160 million man
by Kim Priestap on 18. Jan, 2009 in Barack Obama, Politics, government
Barack Obama thinks he’s worth $160 million. That’s how much he’s spending on his inauguration. To put this number in perspective, it’s 4 times the amount spent on President Bush’s 2004 inauguration. Granted, Bush’s numbers don’t include money spent on security, but his security certainly wouldn’t have come close to what Obama is spending since [...]
A few very important facts about the Democrats’ massive spending bill
by Kim Priestap on 17. Jan, 2009 in Barack Obama, Democrats, House, government
I got this information from an email from the Republican Leader Press Office. The amount of money the Democrats want to spend is insane (emphasis mine): The House Democrats’ bill will cost each and every household $6,700 additional debt, paid for by our children and grandchildren. The total cost of this one piece of legislation [...]
Meet Obama’s regulatory czar
by Kim Priestap on 17. Jan, 2009 in Animal rights, Barack Obama, Gun control, government
Meet Cass Sunstein. Obama has asked him to be the new regulatory czar. And he’s an animal rights nut. Really. He thinks animals should be able to bring lawsuits against humans with other humans as their representatives. Oh, and he wants to ban hunting and meat eating. From the Center for Consumer Freedom: Sunstein has [...]
Warrantless wiretapping ruled legal
by Kim Priestap on 15. Jan, 2009 in Barack Obama, National Security, Terrorism
So President Bush’s extraordinary efforts to keep us safe were ruled to be legal after all the hand wringing. And the ruling has come just in time for Obama to pull back the program anyway in order to appease the hand wringing left. However, considering how the media worship Obama, their stance on this program [...]
Gitmo detainees heading to Camp Pendleton?
by Kim Priestap on 15. Jan, 2009 in Barack Obama, National Security, Politics
Do you or anyone in your family live anywhere near Camp Pendleton? If so, you will be interested to know that it is on a list of locations where the Gitmo detainees could be kept after it is closed down. Obama is expected to make this announcement that he’s closing Gitmo shortly after his inauguration. [...]
Incompetent or corrupt?
by Kim Priestap on 15. Jan, 2009 in Barack Obama, Economy, Politics, government
That’s what sprang to my mind when I read this article from November at the New York Times of all places. Here are the most important paragraphs: But Mr. Geithner’s involvement in several ultimately ill-fated efforts to buttress the American financial system is the very reason some Wall Street C.E.O.’s — a number of whom [...]
Treasury Secretary designate didn’t pay his taxes
by Kim Priestap on 14. Jan, 2009 in Barack Obama
And he’s being tapped to run the IRS. Woops! Obama said it was an innocent mistake, one he quickly rectified in November when he thought he’d be tapped for this position. From the Wall Street Journal: Timothy Geithner, whose nomination as Treasury secretary has been delayed by his past failure to pay taxes, was repeatedly [...]
President Bush’s successes
by Kim Priestap on 11. Jan, 2009 in Barack Obama, Hamas, National Security, President Bush, Society, Terrorism
Peter Brookes has a piece in today’s New York Post that everyone should read, particularly those disaffected conservatives who are angry about Bush’s record on domestic spending. As much as Bush has disappointed us in that realm, he’s more than made up in protecting us from the terrorists’ plots to kill us: It’s not just [...]
Guardian: Obama to talk to Hamas
by Kim Priestap on 08. Jan, 2009 in Barack Obama, Hamas, Israel
The Guardian reports that three sources tell them that Obama is planning to talk to Hamas. This is a 180 degree shift from Bush’s stance, which has been to isolate Hamas: The incoming Obama administration is prepared to abandon George Bush’s doctrine of isolating Hamas by establishing a channel to the Islamist organisation, sources close [...]
I'm Kim Priestap
I'm a Reagan conservative and believe in his core principles as outlined by Jeffrey Lord in The American Spectator:
1. The idea that an individual was and should always be the master of his or her own destiny.
2. The belief in the unique character and powers of every human being and their personal opinions.
3. A belief in freedom under law, as opposed to the concept of modern liberalism that power is everything.
4. A belief that collectivism and the centralizing of power in Washington threatened Americans with a loss of freedom in their own communities and daily lives.
5. A belief in the individual over bureaucracy.
6. That modern liberalism has, in the words of Whittaker Chambers, a "vindictiveness...of temper."
7. That, as Reagan wrote, "we cannot diminish the value of an entire category of human life -- the unborn -- without diminishing the value of all human life."
8. That we will all die, but what makes the difference, as Reagan once said, is what we die for. That there are things worth dying for, and peace, alas, can never be purchased at any price but strength.
9. That freedom belongs to every individual by divine right.
10. That freedom is better than control.
