Full body scanners are not private as we were previously told

Posted at 11:14 am in Business & Celebrities & National Security

When people began expressing their concern about full body scanners in airports showing more of their bodies than they were comfortable with, officials reassured them that these images were just viewed by one member of airport security personnel and then immediately deleted.  That just didn’t sound right to me. Why employ these full body scanners [...]

Tiger lied so easily: I have always put my family first

Posted at 1:16 pm in Celebrities & Society

The UK Times of London has an article today that reports on an interview Tiger Woods did just days before his car crash that led to the revelations that he had been enthusiastically cheating on his wife. It’s amazing how easily the lies slipped from his lips:
Tiger Woods spoke of his deep-seated commitment to his [...]

Rest for the weary

Posted at 3:28 pm in Christianity & Culture & Society

With all the craziness that has descended upon our country since  Obama’s election, I find it is easy for me to sink into a feeling of despair sometimes because I see that our wonderful, once-in- human-history country is sinking and disappearing into an abyss of unrecognizable government controlled collectivism.
When I feel myself beginning to feeling this way, [...]

PETA: People for the Evil Treatment of Animals

Posted at 9:47 am in Animal rights & Culture & Life matters & liberalism

If you thought PETA was actually about protecting animals, let me help set the record straight. PETA is not about the ethical treatment of animals; it’s about the EVIL treatment of animals.

And the Stimulus T-Shirt goes to…

Posted at 1:59 pm in Economy & Politics & Society & government & liberalism

Congratulations to Retired Military for his winning quote by CS Lewis:
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point [...]

A story of amazing commitment and love

Posted at 1:54 pm in Catholicism & Life matters & Society & Uncategorized & government

This is a story we don’t hear very often. A husband in Santiago, Chile, is just as committed to his wife who has been in a coma for 14 years as he was the day he married her. This gentleman doesn’t care how long his wife remains in her coma; he said he will remain [...]

Alert: Nationalizaton of Health Care in Stimulus Bill

Posted at 3:02 pm in Barack Obama & Politics & Sarah Palin & Society & health care & liberalism

Tom Daschle knew the reason why Clinton failed with his socialized medicine is because he actually let the American people in on what he wanted to do. Daschle advised Obama to sneak it in, which is what he’s done. Nationalization – and rationization – of health care is in the stimulus bill! Betsy McCaughy [...]

Gran Torino: a World Magazine review

Posted at 9:36 pm in Culture & Movies

With three young kids, my husband and I don’t get a lot of opportunity to go out and watch movies in a theater anymore. I think last year we saw two of them, one in November and the other in December. When we get the chance to do the dinner and a movie thing, we [...]

In which I speak highly of a liberal

Posted at 8:45 am in Abortion & Conservatism & Culture & Media & Sarah Palin & Television & liberalism

I really like Camille Paglia. She’s liberal yet she’s very smart, two things that don’t normally go together. On top of that, she’s honest. What I mean is that she will give her honest opinion instead of the daily liberal talking points.  Take, for example, her answer to a question from one of her readers [...]
