Undeterred from their effort to ban all off shore drilling, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and the White House issued a second moratorium on deep water offshore drilling, after the federal court shot down the first one. This time, however, the new moratorium bans all offshore deep water drilling The Obama administration’s new moratorium on deep-water [...]

Jimmy Buffet, Gulf Coast native and committed Obama supporter, blames Bush for oil spill
by Kim Priestap on 09. Jul, 2010 in Barack Obama, Oil, Politics
Jimmy Buffet is planning a benefit concert on the Alabama Gulf Coast to help raise the spirits of those who are living with the oil that is washing up on shore and destroying their economies and livelihoods. But evidently he’s got the welfare of another on this mind. In an interview with the Associated Press, [...]
The unlikeliest hero
by Kim Priestap on 28. Jun, 2010 in Environmentalism, Oil
Usually when someone from Hollywood opens his or her mouth about politics or the environment what typically comes out is so unintelligent and meaningless that it reduced the IQs of those who were unfortunate enough to be within earshot. Not so for Kevin Costner. Rather than offering alarmist environmental screeds, Kevin Costner offers ingenuity and [...]
Feds once again undermining Louisiana’s efforts to protect itself from the oil spill
by Kim Priestap on 23. Jun, 2010 in Oil, government
No matter what the local officials in Louisiana do to prevent the oil and sludge from destroying its coastline and marshlands, the Feds immediately swoop in and sabotage their efforts. Here’s the latest: The federal government is shutting down the dredging that was being done to create protective sand berms in the Gulf of Mexico. [...]
Unleash the private sector to clean up the Gulf
by Kim Priestap on 12. Jun, 2010 in Oil
A little over a week ago on June 5th, the White House confirmed that Barack Obama knew within 24 hours after the Deep Water Horizon rig exploded that the oil well would leak continually at least through August and would likely cause an unprecedented environmental catastrophe. Yet, the president didn’t inform the American people. Rather, [...]
Rudy Giuliani on Obama’s handling of Gulf oil crisis: “There seems to be a schizophrenic atmosphere to the way this emergency’s been handled.”
by Kim Priestap on 11. Jun, 2010 in Barack Obama, Oil
NECN asked Rudy Giuliani his thoughts on how Barack Obama has been handling the Gulf oil crisis. He answered bluntly and in a way I think most Americans would agree with. Say what you want about Giuliani’s personal life and how he handled his 2008 presidential run, but when it comes to handling a crisis, [...]
Mr. President: You need to listen to Sarah Palin
by Kim Priestap on 08. Jun, 2010 in Barack Obama, Oil, Sarah Palin
She offers very good advice, and since she’s worked with oil company CEOs and you have not, you’d be wise to take it: Mr. President: with all due respect, you have to get involved, sir. The priorities and timeline of an oil company are not the same as the public’s. You cannot outsource the cleanup [...]
White House admits Obama knew from the very beginning the oil spill would last for months
by Kim Priestap on 05. Jun, 2010 in Barack Obama, Oil
Wait. We’re just hearing now that Barack Obama was fully aware back in April that BP’s damaged well would belch oil for months on end and cause an environment disaster of epic proportions? Critics have bashed President Obama for being slow to seize the political initiative in combating the BP oil spill in the Gulf [...]
Democratic Senators torpedoed opportunity for American oil companies to develop Iraq oil infastructure
by Kim Priestap on 19. May, 2010 in Democrats, Iraq, Oil, Politics
Only two days ago, the Iraqi government finalized a no-bid 20 year contract with China’s CNOOC to help Iraq drill for oil in its Missan oil fields. It would have been American oil companies finalizing those contracts if not for three very destructive Democratic senators. Back in 2008, Iraqi government officials told the US Congress [...]
Former NOAA official: Feds “should have started burning oil off the surface of the Gulf last week.”
by Kim Priestap on 02. May, 2010 in Barack Obama, Energy
This comes to us from Doug Ross. Ron Gouget, a former National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration official, is bewildered as to why the federal government didn’t start burning the oil off the surface of the water almost immediately after the leak began. If the feds had begun the process at that time, this situation could have [...]
I'm Kim Priestap
I'm a Reagan conservative and believe in his core principles as outlined by Jeffrey Lord in The American Spectator:
1. The idea that an individual was and should always be the master of his or her own destiny.
2. The belief in the unique character and powers of every human being and their personal opinions.
3. A belief in freedom under law, as opposed to the concept of modern liberalism that power is everything.
4. A belief that collectivism and the centralizing of power in Washington threatened Americans with a loss of freedom in their own communities and daily lives.
5. A belief in the individual over bureaucracy.
6. That modern liberalism has, in the words of Whittaker Chambers, a "vindictiveness...of temper."
7. That, as Reagan wrote, "we cannot diminish the value of an entire category of human life -- the unborn -- without diminishing the value of all human life."
8. That we will all die, but what makes the difference, as Reagan once said, is what we die for. That there are things worth dying for, and peace, alas, can never be purchased at any price but strength.
9. That freedom belongs to every individual by divine right.
10. That freedom is better than control.
