Tim Scott is the Republican candidate for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, a race he’s expected to win. You need to get to know this man because if he wins, he’ll be a formidable proponent of small government, low taxes, and strong defense. Here’s his bio from his campaign website: Tim Scott is a small [...]

Michigan Defending the American Dream Summit
by Kim Priestap on 01. May, 2010 in Conservatism, Constitutional issues, Economy
I’m at the Michigan Defending the American Dream Summit, sponsored by Americans for Prosperity. Sarah Palin was the first to speak. I walked in just a few minutes after she began speaking, but the screams of the crowd was clear from outside the hall. I sat down just as she told a cute story from [...]
Tonight Sarah Palin speaks
by Kim Priestap on 06. Feb, 2010 in Conservatism, Media, Sarah Palin
Sarah Palin speaks at the Tea Party convention tonight at 9:00pm. All the cable networks as well as CSPAN will be broadcasting it. Unfortunately, I’ll have to watch it on CNN because our Canadian hotel does not have FNC. Boo! Anyway, even some Canadian newspapers have been covering the Tea Party convention. Even yesterday morning’s [...]
Happy birthday, Mr. President
by Kim Priestap on 06. Feb, 2010 in Conservatism
Today is Ronald Reagan’s 99th birthday. He was one of this country’s greatest leaders because he understood what made America great. But we have to keep in mind that we would have never had Reagan as president without Carter’s disastrous presidency. And now because of Obama’s Carteresque policies, we are seeing a resurgence of a [...]
A Time for Choosing
by Kim Priestap on 28. Oct, 2009 in Capitalism, Conservatism, Economy, government
Thanks to Senator Jim DeMint for reminding us that today is the 45th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s “A Time for Choosing” speech. Please pass this on to everyone you know, especially high school students since they many of them may be voting in 2010 and 2012. Most likely this will be the first time they [...]
John Kasich is re-energizing Ohio Republicans
by Kim Priestap on 20. Sep, 2009 in Conservatism, Freedom, Republicans, government
Ohio Republicans have suffered many hard defeats the past few years, primarily because they were led by squishy, middle of the road moderates that took the party nowhere fast. Kasich, however, is a true conservative, which means he believes in limited government, lower taxes, reduced regulations on businesses and people, so citizens and businesses can [...]
Sarah Palin will be on Fox News Tuesday morning
by Kim Priestap on 06. Jul, 2009 in Conservatism, Media, Sarah Palin, government
Mark Halperin reports that Sarah Palin will be on Fox News tomorrow morning. I’m assuming she will discuss her decision to step down from the governorship of Alaska as well as what she’ll be doing with herself in the near future. From what ABC News is reporting the offers are coming in fast and furious.
Sarah Palin on Hannity tonight for “told ya so” interview
by Kim Priestap on 08. Jun, 2009 in Conservatism, Economy, Sarah Palin
This is bound to be the reddest of red meat. Sean Hannity interviews Sarah Palin tonight where she calls out both the Obama Administration for its continued massive spending and Obama’s voters for not listening to the McCain/Palin camp when they said Obama’s plans would actually make the economy worse, not better. Drudge has the [...]
MEP Daniel Hannan tells PM Gordon Brown what for
by Kim Priestap on 26. Mar, 2009 in Conservatism
If you haven’t yet seen this video of MEP Daniel Hannan handing PM Gordon Brown his butt in the European Parliament, you need to sit down right now and watch it. It’s a beautiful thing: If you want to savor the words Mr. Hannan so eviscerated PM Brown with, here’s the transcript. Because UK’s media [...]
What’s with the petty comment about Meghan McCain’s weight?
by Kim Priestap on 14. Mar, 2009 in Conservatism
There’s a bit of controversy going on about Laura Ingraham making fun of Meghan McCain when she was on Rachel Maddow’s show the other day. Meghan is on a talk show tour where she’s advocating for the Republican party to become more moderate. It’s an argument I reject wholly but I am a little annoyed [...]
I'm Kim Priestap
I'm a Reagan conservative and believe in his core principles as outlined by Jeffrey Lord in The American Spectator:
1. The idea that an individual was and should always be the master of his or her own destiny.
2. The belief in the unique character and powers of every human being and their personal opinions.
3. A belief in freedom under law, as opposed to the concept of modern liberalism that power is everything.
4. A belief that collectivism and the centralizing of power in Washington threatened Americans with a loss of freedom in their own communities and daily lives.
5. A belief in the individual over bureaucracy.
6. That modern liberalism has, in the words of Whittaker Chambers, a "vindictiveness...of temper."
7. That, as Reagan wrote, "we cannot diminish the value of an entire category of human life -- the unborn -- without diminishing the value of all human life."
8. That we will all die, but what makes the difference, as Reagan once said, is what we die for. That there are things worth dying for, and peace, alas, can never be purchased at any price but strength.
9. That freedom belongs to every individual by divine right.
10. That freedom is better than control.
