MEP Daniel Hannan tells PM Gordon Brown what for

If you haven’t yet seen this video of MEP Daniel Hannan handing PM Gordon Brown his butt in the European Parliament, you need to sit down right now and watch it. It’s a beautiful thing:

If you want to savor the words Mr. Hannan so eviscerated PM Brown with, here’s the transcript.

Because UK’s media is government controlled, you won’t find Mr. Hannan’s remarks discussed anywhere over there, but here in the States, his words have taken off like wildfire. Fox News had him all over the place today. He has been Neil Cavuto, Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is on television and radio even more tomorrow.

    I have to take issue with your comment that “UK’s media is government controlled”: this is SO NOT TRUE. Our media (headed up by the BBC) is an anchor of our democracy and our government’s ministers are forever having to answer for their decisions and policies, their excessive expenses etc.,etc.. I can tell you, life, for many a British government minister, would be much sweeter without the British media.

    I’m 70 years old and have always been a news junkie (that comes of having grown up during WWII when we had our ears super-glued to the radio almost 24/7) and I can tell you that I couldn’t be more relaxed about the freedom of our media.

    Having said all that, however, this same media has indeed been pretty slow to pick up on Daniel Hannan’s beautiful broadside against GB… but are now beginning to take notice and discuss.
