Chambliss didn’t win 50% of the vote on November 4th, so he’s in a runoff with the man who came in second, a Democrat. At this point, Chambliss is leading by a mere 3 points. Now, we’re talking Georgia here. He should be ahead by at least 10 points. So to help him out a bit, Sarah Palin is going to campaign for him in Georgia:
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is traveling back down to Georgia next Monday to do four last-minute campaign rallies in one day to help incumbent GOP Sen. Saxby Chambliss.
Chambliss is in an apparently close-fought runoff race there with Democrat Jim Martin and the balloting is the next day, Dec. 2. Big-name Democrats have jumped in to help the party reach for its 60-Senate-seat, filibuster-proof majority by knocking off yet another Republican incumbent.
Palin, who’s also been a successful party fundraiser, will do events for Chambliss from Augusta to Savannah to Perry and then Atlanta, probably just before the evening news on TV. What a coincidence in case any station wanted a live shot of the Republican celebrity!
Sarah is considered to be the leading GOP contender for 2012. That can change of course, but she’s very popular among the base, and a lot of the conservative base stayed home on election day. Chambliss needs them to come out on Tuesday. And we could need Chambliss in the Senate to help prevent the Democrats from being one vote away from a filibuster proof majority.
Thanks for stopping back. I've got a lot of new content for you to read.

What base are you referring to, out of curiosity? Most folks refer to the “base” as evangelicals. And turnout among that group was UP in 2008.
Support for the far-right position on the environment, gay adoption, gay marriage, gays in the military, assisted suicide, decriminalization of minor drug offenses, etc is sliding, and sliding FAST. Every single year. If the GOP insists upon deferring to the extreme wing of its party — let alone a woman with shockingly low approval ratings — it can expect an extended vacation in the wilderness. The best hope for the party is to return to its true, respectable Republican beliefs — which focus on fiscal responsibility and smaller government, rather than bigotry, divisiveness, and consistent government intrusion into Americans’ private lives.
Now, we’re talking Georgia here. He should be ahead by at least 10 points.
you are aware, i’m sure, that chambliss’ seat was held by Democrats for **30 years** prior to 2002, right? not to mention the very close presidential result this year.
and speaking of 2002……..
while you may not be appalled at seeing a man who gave three of of his limbs in service to this great nation compared with despicable terrorists, i think plenty of people in Georgia still remember the way max cleland was attacked in 2002. chambliss may or may not win, but there are a lot of people who remember the way your party treats democrats who’ve served our nation.
